THE LITTLE GALLERY GUIDE

The Scottish Gallery | Edinburgh
The Scottish Gallery, located in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, is the oldest commercial gallery in Scotland, having been founded in 1842 by Aitken Dott as a picture restoration and gilding business. Since the 1880s, it has been a pioneer in supporting and promoting women artists, as well as playing a central role in the development of Scottish contemporary art.
Over the years, the gallery has earned a reputation for its
long-standing commitment to craft and applied arts, showcasing a diverse range of work including sculpture, furniture, jewellery, metalwork, textiles, ceramics, glass, and mixed media; created by both Scottish and international artists. In addition to its exhibitions, The Scottish Gallery is known for its dynamic programme of events. Each month, it offers a variety of in-person and online activities that complement the works on display, providing further opportunities for engagement with the art and artists. This commitment to fostering a deeper connection between the public and the art world has helped the gallery remain an important cultural institution for nearly two centuries.
Whether showcasing traditional craftsmanship or cutting-edge contemporary art, The Scottish Gallery continues to be a key player in the Scottish and international art scenes, enriching the cultural landscape of Edinburgh and beyond.

Harbour Lane | Queensferry, Edinburgh & Highlands
Capturing the wilds of the epic Scottish landscape perfectly, through iconic Bothy’s, cabins and places seemingly only dreams could conjure, it’s no wonder Tori’s art translates so well to her homeware range, which alongside other artists and makers from Scotland and beyond, fill her magical boutique giftware shops, Harbour Lane.
Her original shop and creative studio is situated in her home town of Queensferry, Edinburgh and the second has just opened in Fortrose, within the magnificent Scottish Highlands.Predominantly working with watercolours & digital illustration, Tori’s work is printed onto a range of fabrics, such as cotton for lampshades, velvets for cushions and hard-wearing denim for furniture pieces, all resulting in a wonderful organic texture.
Tori accepts a limited number of commissions throughout the year, get in touch to discuss this. Opening times can be found on her website.
